这并非我预想中的毕业感言。 在布朗大学，传统是要求学生两次穿过Van Wickle校门：一次是开启求学之旅时，一次是毕业之际。但当你第二次穿过校门时，脚步并不会停歇。你的足迹会持续延伸，绽放出生命、爱与自我实现的芬芳。当旧的篇章落幕，新的篇章便会开启。 但这一次不同。枪击案的遇难者永远无法第二次穿过校门。谁的女儿、谁的儿子、谁的宝贝，再也无法回家。谁的挚友再也不会打来电话。有人再也无法相信这个世界会再次守护所爱之人。他们又怎能相信呢？事发次日飘落的雪花模糊了我们的声音，却无法掩盖恐惧、悲痛、愧疚与愤怒。 今天早上，我最后一次路过Barus & Holley大楼。时间仿佛凝固，陷入一片哀伤的凝滞，等待着另一场悲剧撕裂空气。我的脚步声回荡着沥青路上闪过的惊愕，彷佛在竭力撕开笼罩着校园的沉重寂静。建筑群突兀地耸立在空中，彷佛一切都偏离了原有的轨道。我们该何去何从？ 疑问远多于答案。事实上，答案只有一个。那就是彼此相爱，彼此关怀，彼此铭记——不要让我们的社区与信念沦为历史尘埃。历史不该如此消逝。我最近读过的一本书写道：“历史并非承载它的纸张。而是记忆，是时间、情感与歌谣的交织。历史是那些永驻心间的印记。”布朗大学是一座坚韧的灯塔，当它美丽的社群团结一心时，它便绽放最耀眼的光芒。我们将以对Mukhammad与Ella的追思，让这份爱永存。 布朗大学25.5届，永恒真挚。 注：若你是布朗大学的成员或朋友，需要倾诉，请随时联系我。我很乐意倾听、分享。🫶 This isn’t the graduation post I thought I’d be making. At Brown, tradition holds that you walk through the Van Wickle gates twice: once at the start of your journey, and once when you graduate. But when you pass the gates the second time, you don’t stop walking. Your footsteps keep falling, blossoming into life, into love, into actualization. When one chapter ends, another begins. But not this time. The victims of the shooting will never pass the gates twice. Someone’s daughter, someone’s son, someone’s baby will never come home again. Someone’s closest friend will never call again. Someone will never trust the world to cradle their loved ones again. And why should they? The snow that fell the day after muffled our voices, but not our fear, grief, guilt, or our rage. I walked past Barus & Holley one final time this morning. Time seemed to have recoiled into a mournful pause, waiting for another tragedy to split the air. My footsteps echoed the shock that flashed off the asphalt, struggling to part the weighty silence blanketing our campus. The buildings loomed unexpectedly in the air, everything shifted a degree off axis. Where do we go from here? There are more questions than answers. In fact, there is only one answer. The only answer is to love each other, to care, to remember — to not let our community and what we stand for pass into history. That’s not what history is for. A book I recently read said, “history isn’t the paper it’s printed on. It’s memory, and memory is time, emotions, and song. History is the things that stay with you.” Brown is a beacon of resilience that shines brightest when its beautiful community comes together. And we will immortalize that love in remembrance of Mukhammad and Ella. Brown ‘25.5, Ever True.
